My name is Captain Nicholas Hargreaves, I am the Commanding Officer of 2632 Halifax West Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps. The young people that make up this corps are some of the most diligent and motivated youth in the city, I am proud to call myself their Commanding Officer. The staff at 2632 RCACC are also a dedicated, and devoted team that works hard to ensure that every single youth that joins the corps is supported and mentored on their journey through cadets. The aims of the Cadet Program are to develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership, promote physical fitness and stimulate the interest of youth in the sea, land and air activities of the Canadian Forces.
"Citizenship" - The development of responsible and caring citizens is one of the most important aspects of the Cadet Program. Throughout the year, cadets participate in citizenship activities in Leadership - The Cadet Program encourages youth to be fair and ethical leaders. Cadets learn to take responsibility for their actions and motivate their peers to follow their example.
"Physical Fitness" - Cadets develop an understanding of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Participation in fitness activities results in a positive attitude that enables cadets to take on new challenges.
"Stimulate Interest in the Activities of the Canadian Forces" - Exposure to the land activities of the Canadian Forces is a unique part of the Cadet Program identity, distinguishing it from other youth development programs.
How Can You Get Involved?
Encourage your cadet to attend training every week. Ask to see any handouts and ask what new material was covered that evening. Please join our Facebook group as this is where copies of all handouts, documents and notices and communication for members and their parents will be. Learn what Army Cadets do and the symbols and ranks within our organization. Read about our Corps history. Join the Cadet Unit Support Committee. This committee will assist with recruitment; transportation; community projects; publicity and fundraising. We will work as a team towards common goals for our children. And most importantly we have fun. Even if you can't help out on a regular basis but can help with special functions it would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact us at 2632army@cadets.gc.ca
